Deer Resistance Study

As a master gardener in Athens County I have been working with the Ohio State Extension Office on a list of deer resistant plants.


Our study is based on primary data gathered from test gardens located in Athens OH (SE Ohio).
The list we provide rates the resistance of the plants from never to frequently browsed and can be sorted by Latin or common name, plant height, light preference, bloom color and time, and deer resistance rating. Data is based on a minimum of 3 years of testing. Often we test multiple species within a genus and many varieties within a species, as deer resistance has been found to vary within these groups.
